Broadcom has agreed to lend Anthropic up to $42 billion to finance infrastructure spending, according to Anthropic’s IPO prospectus, Reuters reported exclusively Thursday (also CNBC).

The convertible notes could become Anthropic shares. Anthropic said it does not expect any notes to be sold before the IPO completes. The facility could finance about one-third of Anthropic’s $125.2 billion five-year TPU compute lease commitment. Alphabet’s Google and Broadcom collaborate on TPU generations; Anthropic expanded a Broadcom/Google partnership in April for multi-gigawatt next-gen TPU capacity starting in 2027.

Anthropic is expected to become Broadcom’s largest compute customer in 2027. Broadcom projects AI semiconductor revenue of about $115 billion in fiscal 2027 and $230 billion in fiscal 2028. Anthropic also warned Broadcom’s dual role as hardware supplier and financing partner creates “potential conflicts of interest” that could affect compute access — and that certain defaults could make lease obligations immediately due while limiting use of the $42B facility.

Wall Street’s circular-spend anxiety, meets a prospectus footnote the size of a small country’s GDP.

Sources: Reuters; CNBC

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[1

post-423","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
