When math teacher Thomas Thermidor\u2019s brother \u2014 a college sophomore with kidney failure \u2014 needed a donor, school custodian <strong>Andrew Allen<\/strong> stepped up <em>without being asked<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcboston.com\/news\/local\/boston-custodian-kidney-donation-colleague-brother\/4025167\/\">NBC Boston<\/a> reported Oct. 2, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe told me what was going on, and I just got a <strong>lightning bolt<\/strong>,\u201d Allen said, adding he felt \u201cconvicted by the Holy Spirit to get the blood test to see if I was compatible.\u201d He was. The transplant happened within a year. The Thermidor family said that without the donation, the wait could have been <strong>seven years or more<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Allen was honored with colleagues for <strong>National Custodians Day<\/strong>, with Thermidor and his brother there in support. Nobody asked.
