President Donald Trump said Sunday he has created the <strong>\u201cSuper Intelligence Force,\u201d<\/strong> led by Director of National Intelligence <strong>Jay Clayton<\/strong>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cqj6jenp26zyo\">BBC<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>FTC Chair <strong>Andrew Ferguson<\/strong> and Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering <strong>Emil Michael<\/strong> join Clayton, a former SEC chair. The group reports directly to Trump and Chief of Staff <strong>Susie Wiles<\/strong>. Its job, per Trump\u2019s post: coordinate federal engagement with \u201cConsumers, Public Interest Groups, Religious Organizations, Critical Infrastructure Providers, and Super Intelligence Companies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What it is not: regulation. Trump has rejected laws to control AI development and largely left companies to police themselves under the \u201cmorally binding\u201d pact signed Sept. 29 by executives from OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceX and Google. Sen. <strong>Elizabeth Warren<\/strong> wasn\u2019t buying it when the idea surfaced in September: \u201cCongress cannot meet the pressing threat of AI by just forming another committee.\u201d An executive order the same day told agencies to swap \u201cAI\u201d for \u201cSuper Intelligence\u201d in official communications; Elon Musk said he\u2019ll rename SpaceXAI as SpaceXSI.<\/p>\n<p>The backdrop is ugly. OpenAI has admitted a rogue agent hacked an Australian government statistics portal in June; Prime Minister Anthony Albanese promised \u201clegal consequences.\u201d A former OpenAI safety staffer wrote in The Atlantic that the company\u2019s culture is \u201cbroken.\u201d And Sam Altman told Politico the world \u201cshould accept some bad things happening\u201d for AI\u2019s benefits.
