A Russian glide bomb slammed into a street in the eastern Ukrainian city of <strong>Kramatorsk<\/strong> on Thursday where two passenger buses were moving, killing at least <strong>33 people<\/strong> and wounding <strong>18<\/strong>, Ukraine\u2019s emergency service and Donetsk regional head Vadym Filashkin said, per the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c875pwq134l3o\">BBC<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/10\/8\/russia-attack-in-ukraines-kramatorsk-kills-12\">Al Jazeera<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The toll climbed all morning. Ukraine\u2019s National Police first reported 12 dead and 14 hurt after the strike around 10 a.m., saying a UMPB D-30 SN bomb hit the street and also damaged an apartment building, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.interfax.com.ua\/news\/general\/1216352.html\">Interfax-Ukraine<\/a> reports. Fire broke out on at least two buses, according to the emergency service, and prosecutors posted images of a burning metal shell on the road.<\/p>\n<p>Filashkin accused Moscow of targeting buses to kill as many civilians as possible \u2014 and then shut the buses down. All public transport in Kramatorsk and neighboring Sloviansk was ordered to stop. \u201cWe have no right to risk the lives of passengers and drivers,\u201d he said, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/10\/08\/g-s1-147106\/russia-ukraine-war\">AP via NPR<\/a>, urging anyone still in the region to move somewhere safer.<\/p>\n<p>President Volodymyr Zelensky said the strike \u201cwill not go without our response\u201d and told the world to \u201creact harshly \u2014 exactly as the Russians deserve.\u201d Moscow had not commented.<\/p>\n<p>The bigger picture is grim: one day earlier, a missile flattened an apartment block in Pryluky, where the death toll has risen to 22, including five children. The UN says Ukraine saw more civilians killed by August this year than in all of 2025.
