Overnight, Russia hit gas production facilities belonging to state energy company Naftogaz in the Kharkiv region, setting off a fire. His line of the day: an energy ceasefire is needed \u201cin reality, not just on Truth Social.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Europe isn\u2019t buying it yet. \u201cI have not noted, over the last 48 hours, any energy ceasefire coming from the Russian side,\u201d France\u2019s Emmanuel Macron said. And the EU added nearly <strong>1,600<\/strong> new sanctions on Russia\u2019s military-industrial complex. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas called it \u201cthe single largest expansion of our sanctions list since Russia started its war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Context: the announcement landed two days after Trump eased U.S. sanctions on Russian diesel to fight high fuel prices, a move that drew outrage from Kyiv and European allies.
