That token unlocks a secure digital payment credential \u2014 not your real card number \u2014 for the agent to use at checkout.<\/p>\n<p>Why bother? LLMs are nondeterministic. Ask for white Nike size 9s and the agent might try Adidas. Amex says pulling intent earlier can <strong>block the mismatch before the charge<\/strong>. VP Hannah Bozian told TechCrunch the company hasn\u2019t seen a spike in agentic disputes yet \u2014 it\u2019s building ahead of scale.<\/p>\n<p>Survey fuel: in Amex\u2019s Trendex report, <strong>66%<\/strong> of U.S. consumers said they\u2019re likely to use AI agents to hunt the best price, and <strong>61%<\/strong> for product recommendations over the next year. The framework plugs into Amex\u2019s ACE Developer Toolkit launched in April.<\/p>\n<p>Autonomous paper-towel reorders are coming.
