Apple\u2019s first foldable phone didn\u2019t even make it to breakfast. iPhone Duo<\/strong> preorders opened at 5 a.m. Pacific (7 a.m. Central) on Friday, Oct. 16<\/strong>, and within minutes delivery dates slid from Oct. 23 into November. By 5:30 a.m. Pacific, Apple\u2019s online store was quoting Jan. 25, 2027<\/strong> \u2014 for every color and every storage size, MacRumors<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n

Apple told the Financial Times demand has been \u201cnothing short of extraordinary.\u201d<\/em> Prices run from $1,999<\/strong> (256GB) up to $3,199<\/strong> for 2TB. The lucky first orders still land on Oct. 23<\/strong>. Everybody else who ordered from Apple is waiting until next year \u2014 so if a Duo was on your Christmas list, Apple\u2019s own store can\u2019t get it there.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t plan on strolling into a store, either. Apple retail staff told MacRumors they\u2019ve been advised there will likely be no walk-in stock on launch day<\/strong> and to discourage customers without preorders from coming in. Apple\u2019s site says to check back Oct. 24<\/strong> for store pickup.<\/p>\n

And the scalpers? Already feasting. Tom\u2019s Guide spotted an eBay buyer paying $3,777<\/strong> for a 1TB Duo and another paying $4,999<\/strong> for a 2TB model \u2014 on Friday morning, before a single phone shipped.<\/p>\n
