Russia is \u201cready in principle\u201d to restart talks with the <strong>US and Ukraine<\/strong> on ending the war, Vladimir Putin\u2019s top aide <strong>Yuri Ushakov<\/strong> said Wednesday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cq3djn5nxx12o\">BBC<\/a> reported. He spoke after Putin met Trump\u2019s special envoy <strong>Steve Witkoff<\/strong> in St Petersburg.<\/p>\n<p>Ushakov suggested a new round around <strong>10 November in Abu Dhabi<\/strong>. A US official told the BBC that Witkoff and <strong>Jared Kushner<\/strong> had proposed a technical-level three-way meeting, which Ukraine accepted in Oslo on Tuesday and Russia accepted on Wednesday. Zelensky said the US wants it \u201cas soon as possible\u201d and \u201cwe are in favour of it.\u201d The talks have been frozen since February.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t pop the champagne. Ushakov called the ideas Witkoff brought \u201cnot very useful,\u201d and said the talks must focus on \u201cbuilding a security system for Russia and Ukraine after the end of the conflict.\u201d He also said Putin insists his troops are advancing everywhere on the front, a claim Ukraine and its European allies dispute, pointing to a near stalemate.<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky, meanwhile, told Fox News he would accept freezing the war along the current front line. \u201cFreeze and stop,\u201d he said, with security guarantees to be discussed after.<\/p>\n<p>All of this lands in the middle of a nasty row between Kyiv and Washington. Trump has said it is time for Ukraine to get a new president.
