For Zuckerberg, whose fortune is estimated at over <strong>$200bn<\/strong>, that likely means around <strong>$10bn<\/strong> in extra state taxes.<\/p>\n<p>So what happened? Last month Zuckerberg told Meta\u2019s board he was thinking of moving his primary residence out of the state, warning a move \u201cwould be public and inevitably noted and commented upon by company employees.\u201d The board\u2019s answer: a stock split that created an entirely new type of share, one for every existing shareholder. Zuckerberg gets <strong>more stock, more often<\/strong>, and can sell it quarterly. His control over Meta doesn\u2019t change.<\/p>\n<p>Meta calls it the <strong>\u201cFounder Alignment Agreement.\u201d<\/strong> A company filing says it came out of \u201crobust\u201d and \u201cat several points, contentious\u201d talks with a special committee. It runs for <strong>eight years<\/strong> as long as he stays a California resident, and appears to apply even if the tax fails.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Meta says it could spend up to <strong>$145bn<\/strong> on AI this year and posted negative cash flow for the first time since going public.
