When <strong>Bridget Devaney<\/strong>\u2019s fianc\u00e9 suffered a medical emergency and their planned elopement, and then the relationship, fell apart, she didn\u2019t quietly close the chapter. She went online and invited strangers to come celebrate the wedding that never happened, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cx4g1vdyzem6o\">BBC News NI<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>The nudge came in April, when a photographer emailed to check on her postponed wedding plans. A friend suggested advertising a <strong>women-only group trip<\/strong> on her anonymous social media profile. Hundreds of inquiries poured in. \u201cWhen these women signed up for this trip, they didn\u2019t know my name. They didn\u2019t know what I looked like,\u201d said Bridget, who splits her time between the US and Killarney in the Republic of Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, <strong>11 strangers<\/strong> from the <strong>US, Canada and Wales<\/strong> signed on. Janae Pettit, a design consultant from Utah, spotted the post on <strong>1 April<\/strong> and figured it was a prank. \u201cIt was April Fool\u2019s Day, but Bridget was like, \u2018this is not a joke!\u2019\u201d Shana Johnson of <strong>Minnesota<\/strong> signed up before she\u2019d even cleared it with her partner. \u201cIt was kind of like we were all long-lost friends,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month the group spent a week on the north coast, hitting the <strong>Giant\u2019s Causeway<\/strong>, the <strong>Dark Hedges<\/strong> and Londonderry, and capping it with a \u201cnon-wedding day\u201d photoshoot. Photographer <strong>Rob Dight<\/strong> of Epic Love Photography, who had extended Bridget\u2019s deposit after her fianc\u00e9 was injured, was \u201cblown away\u201d to learn mid-shoot that the women had met just three days earlier. \u201cIt was kind of a \u2018jaw-on-the-floor scenario\u2019\u2026 It was just so wholesome,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The group chat is still going, and more trips are in the works.
