Meta is going hunting for corporate AI customers — and it just hired the boss of a major database company to lead the charge. TechCrunch reported Monday that Meta is launching Meta Enterprise Platform for business and corporate AI users, and has hired Chirantan “CJ” Desai, CEO of MongoDB, to run it.
The move builds on Muse, Meta’s personal AI assistant for emails and booking travel that launched earlier this month. The enterprise stack Meta is pitching to businesses and developers includes Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code, and more.
“Over the coming years, AI will fundamentally redefine how organizations of all sizes innovate, grow, serve customers, and run business operations… Meta Enterprise Platform will focus on turning its AI stack into products and services that companies can deploy for their own businesses,” Desai said.
Wall Street took the Mongo angle hard: MongoDB shares dropped more than 17% on the news. Mongo appointed Dev Ittycheria as interim CEO — a role he has held before — while the board searches for a permanent replacement.
