Moscow just moved the Kyiv fight into the school calendar and the morning commute. A Russian drone slammed into the third floor of a Kyiv school around 09:00 local time Thursday — and later two drones hit the Pivdennyi (Southern) bridge, one of the capital’s main arteries across the Dnipro, BBC and Al Jazeera reported.
More than 100 students were at the school when it was hit. Head teacher Valentyna Chorna said children and staff had already reached a shelter: “None of the children were hurt, neither were any staff.” Part of a wall and staircase were destroyed. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said there were no immediate casualty reports from the school strike.
On the bridge, a metro train was crossing when the blast wave sent dust into a carriage. Reporter Mariana Mykytenko said a passenger shouted “Shahed” before the hit; trains were suspended, though road traffic later resumed. City authorities said preliminary checks “did not find any critical damage to the structure” — even after an explosion near a main support.
Ukrainian officials say a new jet-powered drone design — ~40kg warhead, built to smash pylons and iron bridges — entered service Wednesday. Air force figures: at least 3,177 Russian drone strikes in September through the 29th. This is a different chapter from Wednesday’s overnight energy-grid barrage already covered here — daylight school, daylight bridge, capital jammed.
