SpaceX just dropped another brick into the Pentagon’s LEO mesh. A Falcon 9 lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Oct. 10, 2026 at 3:39 a.m. EDT carrying 21 data-transport satellites for the U.S. Space Force’s Space Development Agency, Space.com reported.
The flight was five days late — an Oct. 5 attempt aborted in the final minute for undisclosed reasons. Today’s mission is the fourth of nine SpaceX launches building Tranche 1 of the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture: optically linked LEO birds for tactical comms plus missile warning, indication, and tracking. Tranche 1 aims for 154 operational satellites (126 data-transport, 28 missile-tracking) plus four higher-fidelity missile-defense test sats. With today’s flight, 84 of 126 data-transport satellites are up.
Booster 1103 stuck the Vandenberg landing on its sixth flight (prior: July’s Tranche 1 mission). SpaceX cut the webcast after touchdown at SDA’s request, so deployment confirmation waits. It was Falcon 9 flight 111 of the year.
Translation: the warfighter internet keeps getting denser — one scrubbed countdown at a time.
