Google’s Gemini Spark can now run multi-step workflows inside Google Photos — search and curate shots, enhance copies, build albums, share links through Connected Apps, schedule recurring highlight dumps, and pull text out of images into Docs.

Google Photos lead Shimrit Ben-Yair said the rollout hits eligible Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. (English) over the coming weeks. Spark is framed as an always-on personal agent; Photos is the latest first-party app it can drive.

Safety notes from the rollout: edits create a new copy, new albums start private, and Spark asks before sharing albums or sending email. You’ll need Photos connected in Gemini, Spark toggled on, and Face Groups / related Photos settings enabled for the smarter people/place queries.

This is the personal-tech beat in one headline: your camera roll is no longer just storage — it’s a task queue for an agent that already knows your Gmail and calendar habits.

Astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope have spotted a ten-sided polygonal atmospheric structure near Saturn’s south pole — a decagon that joins the gas giant’s famous hexagon at the north pole, first observed decades ago.

The discovery was recently published in the journal Science Advances, with imagery credited through the Space Telescope Science Institute. Saturn’s north-polar hexagon has puzzled scientists for more than forty years; a matching-style geometric jet stream at the opposite pole raises fresh questions about how stable polygonal storms form in fast-spinning atmospheres.

No aliens. No weather machine. Just physics doing something that still looks like a drafting-table prank when you stare at it long enough.

Nvidia confirmed it will acquire open-source AI platform Hugging Face in a deal valued at about $12.93 billion — roughly $11.9 billion to stockholders plus up to about $1 billion in equity retention awards for employees who join Nvidia.

Hugging Face hosts about three million models, one million applications used by more than 18 million developers, and half a million datasets. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the platform will stay open for the broader AI ecosystem and that Nvidia compute will not be required to build or deploy through Hugging Face.

Hugging Face CEO Clément Delangue said the company needed more compute, support, collaboration, and visibility at larger scale — and went to Huang after the July episode in which autonomous AI agents compromised Hugging Face’s infrastructure.

Unlike several recent Nvidia tie-ups structured as licenses-plus-talent, this is a straight acquisition. That means Hart-Scott-Rodino filing in the U.S. and likely EU merger review. Nvidia expects closing in the first half of 2027 if regulators bless it. Until then, Hugging Face says day-to-day platform access continues under current governance.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation Friday into Tesla’s decision to put its new Cybercab on public roads with no steering wheel and no pedals.

NHTSA said the probe began mere hours after Tesla launched the first Cybercabs on the streets of Austin, Texas. Federal vehicle safety rules still require manual controls like brake pedals, even as the Department of Transportation has proposed rolling those requirements back for vehicles designed to drive themselves.

“NHTSA fully supports the safe development and deployment of automated vehicles. But as the federal regulator, we need to ensure that all of our laws are followed,” administrator Jonathan Morrison said in a statement.

Tesla told the agency it self-certified the Cybercab as compliant with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards — the same industry practice automakers use for conventional cars. NHTSA says it will examine the process and technical data behind that certification, including how far Tesla leaned on arguments that certain standards simply do not apply to a wheel-free robotaxi.

There is precedent: Amazon-owned Zoox faced a similar special-order inquiry over its cube-like robotaxi, later won a temporary Part 555 exemption, and only recently started charging for rides in Las Vegas under fleet caps. Whether Tesla gets a quicker path — or a longer slog — is now the story.

NHTSA also noted it is rewriting parts of the FMVSS tied to manual controls, but until those updates land, “existing standards remain in force.”

Iran says it struck U.S. military assets in Kuwait and the UAE on Thursday — retaliation for Tuesdays strike on a wedding celebration in Kuhestak, southern Iran.

Iranian officials and Red Crescent reports put the wedding death toll at four to five, including a child, with roughly 50–70 wounded. Vice President JD Vance says Washington is investigating, while casting doubt on Iranian media and insisting the U.S. does not target civilians.

But a Reuters-commissioned weapons analysis concluded the damage was consistent with a direct hit by a U.S. munition — not a ricochet.

The flare-up deepens a roughly six-month conflict, keeping pressure on the Strait of Hormuz and oil markets.
